Installation and first run.

The Download section of this website contains installation files of the Mateyko program for Windows in several language versions. To download an installation file, simply click the appropriate file and choose a location to save it on your hard drive.

Installation files are stored in compressed form to decrease their download time.
When done downloading a file, uncompress it to a selected folder.

After uncompressing, click the Setup.exe icon to start installation. The installer will first determine if all required components are installed in your system. To run properly, Mateyko requires the .Net version 2.0 installed in your system. If this component is not installed in your system, the installer will automatically download and install the required elements in your system. The Microsoft .Net platform is free software; no fees are required to install and use it.

Next your will see a window with the end-user licence agreement. To use the program, you must read and accept all conditions of this document. This is a standard end-user licence agreement as seen in most programs.

On first run, the program will ask you to create a new identity profile. An identity profile is a password-protected safe storing all your login data. It is required to set up a master password to use it. First choose the wizard type you would like to use. You will have three options:

1. Basic - recommended for most users. This will allow you to configure your master password for your identity profile in a single step. All other operations are performed automatically.
2. Advanced - recommended for advanced users. You can manually define your identity profile and specify where it should be stored. You can e.g. indicate a flash drive as a location to store your identity; thus you can easily use your login data on multiple computers, or if you want to make sure that after removing your flash drive no one can physically access your data.
3. I already have an identity profile … – this option is recommended for users who previously created an identity profile and have the files associated with it, and who wish to start using data contained therein.

This description is primarily intended for less advanced users, therefore we will concentrate on the basic version of creating an identity profile. The elements used here are of course contained in the advanced version; thus more advanced users can learn here about details of setting up a master password.

Check the „Basic” options and click „Next”

In the basic version of the identity profile wizard, all actions will be carried out automatically; you only have to create a master password that will allow you to use the data contained in the identity profile.
You have the choice of three options of creation of a master password:

masterpassword1.jpg

1. MATEYKO type password. This type is recommended because of the password complexity level and - consequently - the security from unauthorised access it provides. When creating a password of this type, you choose a picture well known to you and select three or more fields on the picture. During the login process, you click these fields in the same order.

To set up a Mateyko type password, click the „Choose a picture” button and select a picture to be used.
After selecting the appropriate file, the field in left-hand side of the window  will show the picture with a superimposed grid. Now you should select three or more squares of the grid by clicking on them. If you make a mistake or wish to select other squares, click the „Start again” button. The entered fields will be reset and you can start the process over.

NOTICE!
You must remember the selected fields as during the login procedure you will be asked to select the same fields in the same order as specified when creating the password.

When done click „Finished”.

2. Standard password. This option is intended for users who prefer to use a standard password, i.e. entered with the keyboard.

To set up this type of password, enter the password you wish to use in the upper field and confirm your choice by entering the same character sequence in the lower field.
When done click „Finished”

3. Existing MATEYKO password. This option is intended for users who already configured their Mateyko type password and wish to use it for the identity profile being created. To use an existing Mateyko password, select a file that contains your matrix and click the appropriate fields as you do during the login process. When done click „Finished”

After clicking the „Finished” button, the program will configure your identity profile. This can take a few seconds depending on the speed of your computer. When done with all operations, you will see a window with useful information when working with the program. If you use the program for the first time, we recommend to read this information. This will only take a few minutes and will greatly improve your experience with using the program. To learn about a topic, click the appropriate button on the left-hand side of the window.
When done reading the tutorials, click the OK button in the right-hand side of the window.

When done creating your identity profile, you will be presented with a login option, where, depending on the chosen password type, you will click appropriate squares on the picture or, if you have chosen to use the standard password, you will click the Standard password tab and enter the password selected with creation of your identity profile.
From now on, the program is ready to use and you can access its full functionality.
